On Monday Mom, Paul, and I got to go to Bismarck to pick Grandpa up from the airport.  He flew up to stay with us for a while.  While we were up there we stopped by Kimber's house to see Judith our cousin and John her boy friend.  Judith is over here to visit family.  It was lots of fun to visit and to hear about family that are in Germany.  We had a great day getting to pick Grandpa up and see Judith who we haven't seen in 4 years!

Putting corn up

yesterday we picked around 52 dozen sweet corn.  We planted a patch 800 feet long and 9 rows wide this year.  We planted it for Food Resource Bank.  It's an orginization to stop world hanger.  They teach people how to grow food and how to farm so that they can help themselves better.  So whatever we've sold from the corn we are giving to FRB.  But out of those 52 dozen we put up about 15 of them.  We kind of got a late start so we stayed up a little later last night to get it all done.  God has blessed us soooooooo abundantly this year with tons of corn.

And sow fields and plant vineyard, That they may yield a fruitful harvest.  He also blesses them, and they multiply greatly;  And He does not let their cattle deceasee.  Psalm 107:37-38

8-23-12

This is quick little post to keep you all up to date on what's going on around here.
yesterday morning everyone headed out to the sweetcorn field to pick a pickup load so that Mom, Mindy, and Paul could go over to the Ashley's farmer's market to sell it.  Well, they did pretty good but when they were done selling they ended up with 8 dozen left over.  So yesterday afternoon Mindy and Janae blanched, cooled, cut the corn off the cobs, and bagged 15 bags of corn for this winter!

We have a very big patch of sweetcorn this year because we are selling it and giving the proceeds to the Food Resource Bank.

This morning, we got out early and got to work painting before it got too hot.  But the bad thing is it took us till noon anyway, so it did get pretty hot till we finished.  The job we undertook was to paint one of the sheds in the barnyard.

Yes, this is the barn were the puppies are currently living!  So you might see them on a picture or two.

Jody couldn't help paint but she ran the telahandler

Jody update

These are some more pictures of Jody on Thursday at the hospital and then Friday when we had her home.  She is feeling better but still has lots of pain.  She eats meals with us and she walks around some, so she is improving!  Thank you to all of you.  We have seen the effects of your prayers.

Thursday we walked around the hospital a little with her.

She's had quite a bit of swelling all over.  From the accident it's self.
There are 39 stapmles in her back.
We brought a few of the puppies in to keep Jody company the other day.

Pathfinder Camporee

This is a post that is over due but I needed to post it, because we had so much fun.  In the end of July we went Custard South Dakota for a mid-America Pathfinder camporee.  The mid-America states that came were Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, North and South Dakota, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico.  There were over 1200 kids camping.  The rest I will explain with the pictures.

On Thursday we went on a "field trip" type thing.  We went to bear country and then Reptile garden.  It was lots of fun!

Different clubs went different places.  Ours went to the bear country and reptile gardens but Tabby had to help Ann Wham with a different pioneering station.  So we missed her.  :(

Then on Friday we went to Crazy horse and to Jewel cave.  I think most of us would agree that going to the cave was the most fun!  Jewel cave is the 2nd largest cave in the world!

There was another club that went with us to crazy horse.

It was kind of fun cooking on a cook stove.  It wasn't as bad as you would have thought.  :)

On Sabbath us Jody, Janae, Paul, and I lowered the flag.  It was an honor to do it for the North and South Dakota states.

Saturday night was our last program.  We went into Mount Rushmore for our last meeting.  It was really cool to have our farewell under the faces.

Jody and I were honored to be chosen for North and South Dakota to be in the color Guard.  We carried all the states that were represented at the camporee and the Christian and the American flag, to lead the Pathfinders into the amphitheater.
